Size guide

A powerlifting belt size is not your trouser size: it matches the waist measured exactly where the belt sits. Measure before ordering — the chart below gives the match.

How to measure

  1. 1

Stand relaxed, without pulling your stomach in — that is the position you will be in under the bar.

  2. 2

Run a tape measure around your waist at navel level, where the belt will sit: above the hips, below the ribs.

  3. 3

Record the measurement in centimetres, over a t-shirt rather than a thick hoodie.

  4. 4

Read the figure off the chart above. This is not your trouser size, which is almost always smaller.

Between two sizes

The ranges deliberately overlap by a centimetre to avoid borderline cases. If your measurement still falls between two sizes, take the larger one: a belt set near its last holes tightens down, a belt that is too short does not grow. These ranges are indicative: they guide the choice, they do not replace your own measurement. If in doubt, write to us before ordering.

Sizing questions

Does belt size match trouser size?

No. Trousers sit lower, on the hips, and their size is almost always several centimetres below the waist measured at the navel. Trust the tape, not the label.

Should I measure with my stomach pulled in or relaxed?

Relaxed. Under the bar you will brace and push your abdomen against the belt: measuring while holding it in would give you a belt too small to buckle at the moment it matters.

Which size if I fall between two?

The larger one. The adjustment lets you tighten a slightly loose belt, never lengthen one that is too short.

Does the calculator replace the chart?

No, it applies it. Enter your waist in centimetres and it returns the same match as the chart above.
